Are providers prepared for MACRA?
The CMS describes MACRA as “a new payment framework that rewards health care providers for giving better care instead of more service.” Now that the final MACRA rule is out, providers were asked how they feel about their MACRA preparations.
According to a recent survey conducted by Advisory Board, a leading consulting firm:
Furthermore a recent CMS study estimated that, under MACRA, providers in small practices are more likely to receive a negative payment adjustment. This is primarily due to the complexity of the reporting requirements. Even more troubling was a report by Black Book Market Research that found 67% of physicians receiving heavy Medicare reimbursements view MACRA as a reason to give up their independence and merge with larger practices.
